Anna Sui was born in Detroit Michigan, in 1955, the daughter of Chinese immigrant parents. Anna Sui attended the New York Parsons School of Design. While at Parsons she made friends with Steven Meisel, who was destine to become one of the top fashion photographers of today. Anna Sui worked for Meisel and after she left Parsons she worked at a variety of junior sportswear companies. In 1992 Anna Sui opened her boutique on Greene Street in SoHo, New York.
