Calvin Klein was born in 1942 of immigrant Hungarian parents. Calvin Klein graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York at age twenty (1962). In 1968 Calvin along with longtime friend Barry Schwartz opened their first apparel company. In 1973 Calvin Klein won the first of three Coty Awards.
