The history of Chopard is a complex history of two families, that of Louis Ulysse Chopard (b. 1863 Switzerland) and Karl Scheulele, jeweler from Pforzheim, Germany. Chopard began "Le Petite Fils de L.U. Chopard" in 1863 in the Swiss area of Jura, using the stamp of Geneva (La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmakers). 100 Years later his grandson, Paul Andre transferred ownership (1963) to Karl Scheulele, who had made a fortune by immigrating to the United States. The Scheulele and Chopard familes continued to make precison jewelry and chronometer watches for which they were famous. For more information about Chopard go to
