Donna Karan was born in 1949 and she grew up in Long Island. She attended Parson's School of Design in New York. She entered the fashion world by first working for Anne Klein and then in 1985 she founded her own company. Donna now serves as Chairwoman and John Idol, who used to be with the Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., is now Chief Executive Officer.
