Guy Laroche was born in La Rochelle, France and he started his career as a milliner. After school Laroche started a career of self-education, Parisian style. At the age of fifteen he sold sketches of prints at Yves Saint Laurent and at age seventeen he was taken as an assistant to Doro thee Bus. In 1957 Laroche opened his own shop. Guy Laroche became known as the designer of real-life fashion and he was the first to introduce "separates" as a collection.
