Emile Charles Hermes, Founder
House of Hermes, Paris, was founded by Emile Charles Hermes in 1837 as a harness maker. His son would expand the shop to include saddles and luxury leather accessories. Later the company switched to making handbags and wallets. By 1950 Hermes had become world famous for prestige handbags, shoes, silk fashion accessories and perfumes. Designers like Veronique Nichanian have created items for Hermes. Hermes became a household name in 1956 when the "Kelly Bag", used by Princess Grace was feature on the cover of Life Magazine. Diana Princess of Wales was also frequented Hermes and Hermes 24 Faubourg Perfume was one of her favorite scents. For more information about Hermes go to
