Italian perfumes is a complex topic because Italian perfumes reach back through the centuries and there are Italian perfumes that are made in Italy, there are Italian perfumes designer by famous Italian designer that are based in Paris, France and their perfumes may be made in France and then there is also Italian born fashion designers, like Nina Ricci, born in Italy, designer showroom in Paris and the management of Nina Ricci is by Antonio Puig in Barcelona in Catalan Spain.  So if the creator of the perfume is Italian we have included that history here because it is too difficult to simply say, “Italian perfume and fragrances” and exclude Italians living in other countries.

Italian Perfumes a 3000 Year History
Italian perfumes cover a history of over 2000 years and this is an interesting history but for this there must be some discussion of the development of Western Civilization, so we are only going to talk about Italian perfume and fragrances in our modern world.  For those of you who are interested in ancient perfumes and the art of perfume making there is a perfume museum in Milano, Italy, the Rance Perfume Museum at Via Lombardini. At the Rance Museum you will learn many new perfume “trivia” such as that in the 17th century people were would put perfume on their gloves with poison and then greet their enemy with a handshake without removing the poisoned glove.  Because of this etiquette rule was declared: remove your gloves before shaking hands.
