Wolfgang Joop was born in 1944 in Potsdam, Germany. Joop began his career when he and his former wife entered a fashion contest in 1970. Prior to that he had worked as a freelance artist and held a professorship at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin, Germany. The first Joop perfume was created in 1987 and Joop Jeans were introduced in 1988.
