Karl Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg, Germany, the son of a wealthy Swedish businessman and a German born mother. After Lagerfeld won a prize from the International Wool Secretariat, he moved to Paris where he started to work with Balmain. In 1963 he worked with Chloe, where he created Narcisse and Narcisse Noir perfumes. He moved to Chanel in 1982. At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld reinvented the double "C" and he added hot-pants and other modernisms to the Chanel. Lagerfeld also designs for Fendi and under his own label Lagerfeld perfume and colognes.
