Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Italy and he was only 14 when he had his own shop with six staff. Salvatore Ferragamo moved to the United States where he opened a shop in Santa Barbara, California. Later, he purchased the Hollywood Boot Shop and he became famous for his custom made shoes for film stars. In 1927 he returned to Italy to open a factory.
